Hi Sridhar, welcome to the mac! :D

Just so you know, the webkit nightlys will not overwrite the webkit contained in your OS X installation. What you download from nightly.webkit.org is a new version of the framework that, when launched, runs the Safari on your system, but with the newer version of webkit. There's no installation, per-say, and it's not replacing anything. This allows you to run a normal Safari instance as well as one with an updated webkit version.

So the Safari in your /Applications folder with the silver-bordered compass icon will be running your normal webkit from your system frameworks, while the WebKit application on your desktop with the gold-bordered compass icon will be running revision 21612 from the webkit repository.

I hope that helps clear up any confusion!

I am a newbie on Mac. I have recently installed a latest build of webkit from nightly.webkit.org. How do I verify if safari picked it up? How do I verify if it's installed? Is there a place where i can see the revision number

Here is the build that i installed.
WebKit-SVN-r21612.dmg

I see 2 safari icons on the desktop (one labelled webkit)

Thanks,
