Alexander,

I misunderstood your question. VoiceOver is a client that uses them. I don't know whether there are other clients.

There is currently no proposal. Largely, the accessibility interface in WebKit on the Mac reflects our work together with the VoiceOver team, as they have historically been the sole client. Future work is captured in bugs reported internally at Apple.

What are your interests here?

Hi, David.

Did I get you correct, neither clients (like VoiceOver or any screen reader) not servers supports these interfaces? Do you know is anybody going to support them?

You're right that page is not proposal, it just list webkit extension existed in 2006 year. Btw, can you give me more info/point some documentation about lifecycle of proposal?

Alexander.

Alexander,

That page reads as more of a summary of the current state rather than any for of proposal.

The code is the only documentation at this point.

The central files are in
http://trac.webkit.org/projects/webkit/browser/trunk/WebCore/bridge/mac

   AXObjectCacheMac.mm
   WebCoreAXObject.h
   WebCoreAXObject.mm

AXObjectCacheMac.h is in the parent "bridge" directory

These interfaces are unique to WebKit. They are meant to mirror the numeric index-based accessibility found in AppKit's text modules, using a much more efficient interface tailored to html/css content.

Hi, David.

I read webkit proposes an extension of Universal Access in order to improve accessibility support in browser (http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mac:Accessibility/UniversalAccess:Webkit ). Can you point me some documentation/source code where I can get up to dated information? Does any software excluding webkit support these extensions?

Thank you.
Alexander.
