In only a couple of hours since I started the thread the Linux port maintainers have agreed it's okay to remove. I also received another vote to remove from another Apple contributor. I filed https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164213 to track the task of removing. I'll continue to monitor this email thread and comments in that bug, but assuming no objections come up I'll remove the code later this week. As always with version control, it can easily be revived if the need comes up.
