Thank you for your help. That is definitely on the right track to solve it.
Wouldn't adding '|| OS(NETBSD)' mean the fallback applies to any NetBSD build? If so that is not quite the same. I think at least at this stage I prefer the fallback to apply to NetBSD i386 only, rather than every NetBSD build.
