Good point. The majority of the cost of a release lies in testing it, and AFAIK testing of 2.1 on platforms other than Symbian has been quite sporadic and basically conducted by a few brave people trying to use it with Rekonq/Arora/etc for day-to-day browsing.
Irrespective of which path we choose for Qt 4.8, QA work will be starting from scratch on Linux, Mac and Windows.
And if 2.1 has indeed not been tested with 4.8, then we're at square one on Symbian as well.

Indeed. WebKit has seen over 12000 commits since we branched 2.1, granted they are not all relevant for QtWebKit, but there has been a *LOT* of interesting things happening since then.
-fix our P1s and regressions
I agree with you 100%, though now I wonder why we aren't focusing harder on the P1 bugs already. :)
-do multiple betas and do a better job to get the community involved in testing the hell out of it.
Yep. In fact, we should have been doing this with 2.1 already. Where are the alphas/betas/RCs? -Kling _______________________________________________ webkit-qt mailing list [email protected] http://lists.webkit.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/webkit-qt
