I've been playing with this too, and I also have had some trouble. The widget renders correctly, and login succeeds (my on-login function is trivial; it just returns the credentials object), but it takes a refresh to get the protected widget subtree to render properly. I haven't fully familiarized myself with the dataform widget, and so I'm not entirely sure what's going on.
