I often have a different input view when adding a record compared to when I am editing a record in the grid view. It usally has to do with values that may not be changed after creation because they are used as keys nad/or foreign keys else where.
I propose to add a new-item-form-view to dataedit-mixin for this purpose. This view will be used in dataedit-create-new-item-widget for adding new records if supplied else it will fall back on the item-form-view supplied.
