Yes that does help a lot, thanks Leslie! The usage you described makes more sense then what I was trying to do.
The possible bug about FLOW-WIDGET displaying on a new session probably will not affect me anymore. I investigated a little by putting a break statement in the RENDER-WIDGET-BODY method of CHILD-OF- TWO. I noticed that during the HANDLE-CLIENT-REQUEST, *REQUEST-HOOK*'s POST-RENDER slot is bound to a redirect call. So perhaps the "old state" is rendered, but then this redirect causes the "new state" to show. Thanks again for the help.
