I cannot get WebObjects to work with virtual hosts on Tiger Server
10.4.8, and I have spent a week on it!
This is very frustrating, has anyone has actually got this to work?
I recently posted this as a subject: URL not being found after
upgrade to 10.4; however, thanks to help from a number on the mail
list, I can be more specific about the problem.
I have configured my Xserve with Mac OS X Tiger server (clean 'Erase
and Install', and then ran updates to get it up to 10.4.8). I
started WebObjects Service using ServerAdmin and then accessed
Monitor in the browser on http://localhost:56789.
I copied a "coordinationws.woa" to /Library/WebObjects/
Applications and to /Library/WebServer/Documents/www.co-
ordination.com/WebObjects/myapp.woa
For these directories, I have set the owner and group as appserver
and appserveradm (the same app on on 10.3.9 were run as root).
Using Server Admin, I setup sites and turned off performance cache
for www.co-ordination.com.
Without any rewrite rules in the http.conf for the site, I can access
the virtual host and access an index.html placed there to test the
site. So the virtual hosts themselves work.
I can type: http://www.co-ordination.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/www.co-
ordination.com.woa/wa
and I will see the home page - so the WO application is working.
Once the rewrite rules are instated, and the index file removed, if I
type: www.co-ordination.com, I get the (file not found) and the
error.html page referenced in the virtual host (/Library/WebServer/
Documents/www.co-ordination.com/error.html).
I am really stumped. I have not yet tried running with owner and
group as root:admin (used on 10.3.9), but I have done all other
things I can think of.
Any further help would be most appreciated even if it just confirms
that someone is running virtual hosts calling WO apps on 10.4.8.
