I've heard of people using the maven build for that. Even without updating the existing installation.

It is because there isn't any upgrade path for Windows/WO development : (.

If you could do search in this list and omnigroup, there are few discussions on this matter. So far, it is quite confirmed that Windows/WO development is discontinued. From WO5.3 onwards, you will need to develop under applicaiton under MacOS, no more for Windows. As of now, these are some pointers I know if were to use in WO5.3/Windows: License String :: Nil. Only Unix license string is provided in MacOSX. Frameworks :: Possibly could copy from Xcode, nobody seemed tested / responded if it works on Windows. WebObjects.exe/dll :: Nil. Nobody seemed tested/responded if if existing WO5.2.4 could be used.

Not sure how many developers out there are affected, but definitely would be interested to know and share.
