G5. You want server, you'll need to get an Intel Xserve.
MacOSX 10.4.x Server i386: there are two different VMs and -server is
the default
MacOSX 10.4.x Server ppc: there is one VM and it is -client
My understanding is that the principal differences between -client
and -server VMs are in the default configuration and so this is less
significant than it might seem.
If you want to fiddle with the Java VM setup to get more performance,
try tweaking the sizes of the eden/survivor/tenured memory spaces in
the options for controlling garbage collection; web application
server processes do better with disproportionately large eden/
survivor spaces when compared to the desktop/GUI apps for which the
default garbage collection is often tuned.

Does anyone have any idea how I could get our server to use the
Java Server VM? From what I can remember reading last month, we can
get 30-40% performance increase running the server version. I
included the previous discussion about this matter if it can help.
