Your 2nd layout is pretty simple to accomplish (easier than the first,
and better too).
In your mod_webobjects configuration file, just add the URL to each
wotaskd in your WebObjectsConfig line.
WebObjectsConfig http://appserver1:1085, http://appserver2:1085, http://appserver
3:1085, http://appserverN:1085
Each adaptor will then merge the configs and serve up requests from
any of the app servers. Add your HTTP load balancer in front, and you
should be set.

hi all -
looking for some best-practice hints and tips on building an
indestructible WO deployment environment :-)
i've attached some diagrams rather than try to explain what we've been
chewing over. layout1.pdf is pretty bog standard stuff. each node
below the load balancer is a bog standard WO deployment as per the
docs.
my question really relates to layout2.pdf and whether this type of
layout is actually possible. ie can you have 2 web servers (hence 2
adaptors) sharing a pool of app servers ?
also are there any known issues using hardware acceleration ? we're
looking at load balancers that do SSL-handoff, http compression and
resource caching.
any hints on how others are building high availability into their WO
deployments appreciated!
thanks, simon
