thank you for your answer,

No worries, just some random thoughts.

No, they are not for Duplication Apps, they will belong to different users/apps, but there will also be a central data store/ app, and this central store needs to update some part of the client apps and also needs to access some part of the clients DB's. So I would need a way to send data into both directions...

I did consider WebServices, but if I could access those DB's via WO directly I could do the update process server-side, as all apps are on a single server at that stage (this might change). With WebServices I have to open up my architecture/data access to the web.

No more than any other WOApp I'd assume.

How can I make sure, that only my app has access to that data via a WebService? Via a password? Can I access a WebService via https? Probably yes...

Yes.

never tried...

On my WO5.2.4 System, I find them here:
/Developer/Documentation/WebObjects/Web_Services/index.html
/Developer/Documentation/WebObjects/Web_Services/projects/Security [_Client]/*.pbproj

HOWEVER according to http://developer.apple.com/documentation/ WebObjects/Web_Services/index.html ... This document studies example application projects to explain some of the concepts it addresses. This projects and other companion resources can be found in /Developer/Documentation/WebObjects/ Web_Services/projects. Alternatively, you can(*) download them from http://developer.apple.com/documentation/WebObjects/.

(*) This should read 'used to be able to' as with many out of date links for WebObjects stuff...

with regards,
