Hi, John,

I think that the Expressions panel is strictly for use by gdb, the GNU debugger, rather than the Java Debugger.

I find the Xcode documentation to be excellent for the C, Objective C and C++ environments and generally lacking for building with Java. There are sufficient differences in the two environments that they probably ought to have two separate sets of documentation (which, of course, begs the question of how you document Xcode's use for a project that uses the Java Bridge to include both Java and Objective C).

If you want more information on this topic, I suggest subscribing to Apple's Xcode mailing list. You will find it more than twice as active as the WO lists and they've got some real heavies (including heavy Apple internal Xcode users) contributing regularly to the list.

Unfortunately, if you only program in Java with Xcode, you will find that the majority of messages seem to be talking in a foreign language (well... they are: C, Objective C and C++ with their respective compiler and build options).

I eventually dropped my subscription because, for my purposes, the traffic was too heavy for me to keep up while interacting with the WO lists as well (oh, and while actually trying to get some paid work done).

Regards,
Jerry

Does the Expressions menu item in XCode work when debugging a WebObjects app? When I click on it nothing ever happens.
