I don't think your issue is coming from the connection dictionary.
2 things I'd try:
-make sure MySQL is configured to accept network connection (I don't remember
where to look at)
-make sure localhost resolve to your machine

Well, I have checked it: skip-networking variable is off, so Mysql
should accept network connections
and the error is the same for localhost, 127.0.0.1 and 'myPcName'
But it works well with mysql 3.23! Although I have another problem
with connecting to ANY eomodel from eclipse.
