Hi!

This recording method is very inspired in the Podcast Producer way of recording lectures. The key points are:

- Fully automatic method (which will not be the case in WOWODC, of course, as podcast producer should be released one day later and requires some previous setup!);
  - No special software needed in the presenter laptop;
- No restriction to slides and movies previous sent to the movie editors. Everything that comes out of your powerbook (keynote presentations, live code edition, etc) is recorded.

Here's some samples of what we are doing. We are still in the testing phase, and we believe we still can improve a bit the quality of the video. Also, our scan converter is cheap! :D

  (The sound is not distorted... it's portuguese! ;) )

Some advices for the presenters are: use WWDC-like slides (black background, white BIG text, no tiny letters); use 18 or 24 pixels fonts for live code edition; work on 1024*768 (our scan converter has problems with other resolutions, I still don't know what converter will be available on WOWODC). One may think this restrictions are a bit awkward, but if you think on it, those are exactly the same restrictions you have when you are presenting something on a projected display - and that's exactly what you are doing! :)

So, this is not a way to record video-casts. It's a way to record live presentations. It's true that small text might become unreadable, but the text you cannot read on the video you cannot also read on the live projection, so it's kind of useless. How many of you can read code the WWDC presenters do live on stage, when using the regular Monaco-9 font? :)

Also, all the WWDC sessions are recorded this way (except the "flagship" presentations, like Jobs keynote, where they have a reggie and several cameras), and people appear to like them! :)

I'd be willing to shell out some $ for some recorded sessions for the day...not sure if I can make it to WWDC, but I'd still love to get the WOWWDC stuff recorded (DVD/Podcast)

Will the sessions be recorded?

We hope to, I just have troubles finding a scan converter so that we can record what's coming out (slides and GUI) from the laptop to an another laptop. Stay tune, we will give more details next week. _______________________________________________
