Probably not Linux since WO was never qualified under Linux. But based on the date of this technical q&a (25 July 2001) and some of the WO launch arguments, I'd guess that this script was designed for WO 4 running under Solaris or HP-UX, both of which were supported under WO 4. Without being updated, it's inappropriate for WO 5 and Mac OS X or Windows.

It also appears that it will happily kill a lot more than just your application instances.

If you specify the WO 5 app process name, "java", you certainly might kill more than you intended :-)

My recommendation would be to proceed VERY carefully if you intend to use this script.

I'd take that a bit further and recommend that no one use this script without rewriting it for WO 5 and the operating system under which the WO apps are deployed. I.e., consider it an outline of how a WO (re)startup script could be written.
