I've been running 3.3.1.1 under Leopard and WO 5.4 for a couple of
weeks and have never experienced an Eclipse crash. I must not have
done whatever triggers the crash.
Then you're not using the Open Type (cmd-shift-t) dialog or the Open
Resource (cmd-shift-r) dialog, which really should be in every Eclipse
user's workflow, so if you're getting the most out of Eclipse, it
should be crashing :) . I consider this a critical path failure. For
me it made Eclipse almost unusable. If you're on Leopard I would
never recommend that you use anything less than 3.3.2 stream
maintenance build. This is just how it goes, though. Leopard's the
new kid on the block and it's obviously out-of-sync with the Eclipse
release cycle.
But I wonder whether using a very early 3.3.2 version would be any
more stable than 3.3.1.1.

Moving to Eclipse from Xcode is a big enough challenge without
adding potential Eclipse instability to the mix.
Given that 3.3.1.1 itself is proven to be unstable, the 3.3.2 honestly
can't get any worse. I've also been on the 3.3.2 maintenance build
since it came out without any noticeable issues.
Many people migrating from Xcode to Eclipse might appreciate a
stable Eclipse at the expense of being able to use some of the
latest WOLips features.
If you're moving from Xcode to Eclipse on Tiger, this is much less of
an issue, because you can just use 3.3.1.1 -- an official build. If
you're moving from Xcode to Eclipse on Leopard, it's (obviously) a
slightly rougher path.
I've found the discussions of various problems with Eclipse, WOLips,
Wonder, and WO 5.4 to be pretty difficult to navigate. A table such
as the following might really be helpful because it seems that the
stable Eclipse and WOLips versions depend on the Mac OS X, Wonder,
and WO versions being used:
I agree ... I think the version story was pretty clear on Tiger
(stable vs nightly), but with the introduction of Leopard into the mix
along with the loss of EOGenerator, this dramatically increases the
number of permutations.
