I was trying to get Apple's Leopard WO examples to work over the
weekend with the included Derby database. One "front end" I found was
Squirrel SQL which is written in Java. It is primitive but workable.
One thing I can't figure out with it though is that it doesn't see
the WebObjects installer script installed databases. It appears to
create its databases at a different location. I haven't had the
chance to get it all working yet. In case someone else is trying to
see the Derby databases:

5.4 recommends Derby, but I don't actually know what the state of
GUI front-ends for that is vs say a FrontBase or OpenBase).
