That is where I was heading. I came from Cocoa to WebObjects and I loved WO despite it being rolled over to Java soon enough. But I have a hard time getting good feelings for a lot of the Java implementations.
WebObjects is the only Java based tool I ever liked - this might be because I come from Cocoa, but I also think it is one of the best thought our tools out there. Java was not too bad as long as they copied OpenSTEP, but then they started re-factoring at Sun ... not that WebObjects is perfect - not at all, but I still think that there are way more pressing things to be re-done than date formatters and these others would make the tool even better, while getting rid of the formatter wrapper will break a lot of existing code (again).
And Anjo has a really valid point with d2w model files, formatter strings in code, localizations and so on. There are tons of places where this will break for no real benefit.
