Why should it? Have you set it to log there? Is the app that hangs deployed? Find the process id with ps and send it a kill -QUIT signal to get a stacktrace. Note that you have to edit the startup script for that.
Check on the Objectstyle wiki how to get information from deadlocked application. Because I think that is your problem somewhere. Maybe you are moving objects to late in your own editing context on that page?
Are you using ERXEC's autolocking? Are you using coalesce autolocking? This should be configured in your Properties if you do.
