Well.. The idea of Maven is exactly the opposite. Assuming every project life cycle has a lot in common, Maven comes to simplify and standardize boring and error prone tasks.

but I like to stay on top of things, and If this is the direction WO and/or WOnder is headed, I'm going Maven tomorrow... No use fighting the flow....

Maybe. Maybe not. I don't like to compare Ant vs. Maven. I think they have different goals. I like to use Maven because it fits pretty well on my development process.
