Subject: Place of Wonder Frameworks when deployin on OS X10.5 Server

Hello all, again me. :S :P

I think I have read tons of docs around to deploy the application, due that I couldn't deploy it on tomcat,jBoss, (don't ask me why, I simply couldn't after having configured tomcat apache and this other thing jk_mod.. (i think is called)), I got a os X 10.5 server to deploy the inhouse app into that server. I read in the wiki some how-to's for configuring files in apache in the wotaskd.. etc..

I ant install from eclipse but this time not as a servlet, so I have a "split" folder and a the .woa folder, no frameworks embedded. I placed in the server under Library/WebObjects/ Applications/<myapp>.woa and under /Library/WebServer/Documents/WebObjetcs/<myapp>/ WebServerResources

as I understood javamonitor and wotaskd are running on os X server, so th eonly thin I did was to run javamonitor on the server, follow he steps to add the app configure the path and other stuffs.

Add an instance to the Host.
and there it was.. javamonitor said it was on "green" image... no deaths,..

Few questions:
1. Where should I put the WonderFrameworks that I used in my app?

The best practyice and easiest way to manage deployment is simply to embed all frameworks into your app. If you do that you don't have to install anything on the server.

2. the above question but fr the mysql driver

Make a framework called MysqlDriver.framework or sth like that. Put the jar in the Libraries dir. Put a dummy.java empty class in the Sources (otherwise no java jar gets created by the framework and I think it might not get embedded IIRC). Add the MysqlDriver framwork to your project build path.

3. was the deployment on os x server "that" easy (I mean without taking the time I spent reading..

Yes. Easy. The think that causes most problems for first-time deployments IMHO is not having correct permissions on the deployed bundles.

oh yes 4. wtf is Evil Direct connect, I was reading about it and understood nothing, I didn't change anything as it said that wotaskd uses directconnect, something like that.

Been a long time, but IIRC, without Direct Connect disabled, you cannot kill the app or sth like that .... I forget. In any case, just add a property to disable direct connect in WOMonitor arguments field.

Thanks

Have a nice weekend.. I hope on monday I can go to office and be able to finish the deployment on os X server.. Then i have to take some anti depressive pills to TRY to deploy under linux with tomcat.

Gustavo
