we have a scheduler app (wo app) that uses quartz

maintenance stuff to billing systems.
I also wrote a nice quartz-integrated scheduling app.
I put all the business logic for the automated tasks in my core
framework, then had the scheduler app simply control when those
methods were kicked off. This had the additional benefit of allowing
my other apps that implemented the framework to also manually kick off
those jobs.
It was really quite smooth.
I also reverse-engineered the Quartz db and created a D2JC for it so I
could control the scheduling with a nice GUI.
