Yep I just noticed ERXEOGlobalUtilities when browsing through the ERXEOControlUtilities. Maybe I should get acquainted with all the utility classes so I know what's there. By the way, I found a really could use for convertEOtoGID and convertGIDtoEO(). I had arrays and dictionaries containing EOs which I needed to convert to GIDs and then at the end back toEOs again.
