 If you are just starting out, you may want to consider using Scala, rather 
than Java, from the beginning, 
<http://wiki.objectstyle.org/confluence/display/WO/WebObjects+with+Scala>.

Hardware choice doesn't really matter and WO shines in terms of scalability.

It is only easy if you use it the way it was mean't to be used...
