Not sure if I got it right. I appended \\VALID to the binding value, the red icon now complains:
- '\' is an unknown keyword
- Unable to verify operator 'sum.numberOfHour'
- 'VALID' is an unknown keyword
- '\' is an unknown keyword

Just to be sure, this is the string binding used:
String11: WOString {
numberformat = "0.00";
value = [email protected];\\VALID
}

Cheers
