if you don't want to expose this in your model object until the end, you can 
always just have an NSMutableDictionary<ComplianceItem, String> _pendingData; 
in your component with

public void setPendingData(String pendingData) {
        if (pendingData == null) { 
                _pendingData.removeObjectForKey(_repetitionComplianceItem);
        } else {
                _pendingData.setObjectForKey(pendingData, 
_repetitionComplianceItem);
        }
}

public String pendingData() {
        return _pendingData.objectForKey(_repetitionComplianceItem);
}
