What do you guys think (if anything) will happen to OSX Server?

It seems to me that if there is no X-Serve there is much less purpose for OS X Server edition.

That is probably next week's announcement.

Sorry. I have to dust this joke off and use it.

Steve Jobs will be comfortable talking about the enterprise when Pixar is making an animated version of a Star Trek movie.

Xserves going away is so not a s surprise. When Apple made a server- based product that made them a really big pile of money, management basically said "WTF?" I think they gave some of the guys big bonuses. They literally had no idea of what to do as an investment with it.....

Inevitable due to
1) the ubiquity of inexpensive Linux solutions (hardware and/or VPS in the cloud) 2) the fact that all the Mac heads learned unix in the last 8 years

That's my 2 cents ....... let the opinion commentary begin! :-)

Apple will not be developing a future version of Xserve
• Orders for Xserve will be accepted through January 31, 2011
• Apple will honor all Xserve warranties and extended support programs • Transition options to deploy Mac OS X Server include Mac Pro with Snow Leopard Server and Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server
