When the subreport was created, I told it to use:

$P{SUBREPORT_DIR} + "filenamehere.jasper"

I assumed too much and the parameter turned into the path on the development
machine. I just had to remove $P{SUBREPORT_DIR} and leave:

"filenamehere.jasper"

as the Subreport Expression.

And it only took me 5 minutes to find the answer. Maybe I can learn this stuff.
I seem to recall I had to do the same for the images that I imported.
