I have done the "just create a thread" method for something and it worked. But 
we had the application scheduled in JavaMonitor to stop and re-start itself 
once a day and putting out that thread prevented that from happening. I had not 
set it up to listen for the notification or yada yada yada.

I presume that the COScheduler stuff does not have this problem. We will see.
