Great, this almost worked out of the gate. I found that if I copied and pasted 
text that had tabs, the on screen view was beautiful. I checked and the saved 
data in the postgresql database was fine. However when I passed the text (that 
contains tabs) to my Jasper report, it screwed the leading. 

I checked every property in iReport and nothing I did alleviated the bad 
spacing. So now I am processing the text before I print it and sucking out the 
tabs and inserting a couple of spaces.

I will have to post a query to the jasper reports forum and see if this is a 
known issue.
