There isn't a way to do that with the existing component. It was specifically set up that way because automatically selecting a field leads to users using that selection accidentally. By forcing them to select the field, there are fewer mistakes. If they leave "No Selection" then they get a validation error drawing their attention to the field they overlooked.
You could subclass the ERD2WEditToOneRelationship and change the bindings if you like, but you'll probably run into the same issue in form usability.
