Honestly, I've tried numerous different things in /etc/hosts. Currently,this is 
what I have in there:

127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain          
<IP>   <hostname>.local <hostname>

The loopback entries are pretty much the default I think. I really appreciate 
all the advice - it's got to be something close.
