Late to the party, but: Wonder handles this globally when 
"er.extensions.ERXGenericRecord.shouldTrimSpaces=true". However, it'll try to 
trim read only attributes as well, which fails. I just made a pull request that 
fixes this. <https://github.com/wocommunity/wonder/pull/459>
