Just for the record, using Kepler SR2, the patch for java 8 from
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/P20140317-1600/ works,
but m2e was still broken. I tried to install the latest 1.4 version of m2e
using this link
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases/1.4/1.4.1.20140328-190(as
told there
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22696067/eclipse-4-3-2-with-java-8-patches-doesnt-recognize-source-level-1-8)
but it nicely crashed my eclipse on startup :
