Why not just:

web.multiple_insert('table_name', values=[{"col1":"val1","col2:
"val2"}, {"col1":"val3", "col2":"val4"}])

Let's think about how people might use this statement. The most
obvious is for something like importing a CSV file into a DB. In that
case, Anand's version would probably be easier, although not by much.
Perhaps both could be permitted?
