It seems to import fine from a python shell. No problem.
Also, I don't know if this helps, but here's my .htaccess:
Options +ExecCGI +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
AddHandler python-program .py
<Files hello.py>
SetHandler wsgi-script
Options ExecCGI FollowSymlinks
