I think that webpy should use new-style objects (for future additions, anyway) because of comments like these. People who are new to Python are increasingly familiar with new-style objects, and seeing a project using the old style makes it seem dated and less accessible.
Certainly not a big deal, but worth keeping in mind that first impressions matter.
