OK Daniel, you are up the right tree.

If you look again at the 'Introduction' file that you
received when you joined the list, you will see
instructions for obtaining the list archives. All the
information you need is there. If you have lost it, the
footer of this email tells you how to get the latest
version.

New people join this list every week, so I think the
'Intro' file is the best place for this information.
However, you are not the first person to make the
request, so from today the 'Intro' file also outlines
the basic steps.

We have also decided that we will send these basic
instructions to the list twice a year -- starting now.

Old subscribers -- we hope you don't getting this again.
New members need it!

  SIGNING UP AT INTERNETTRASH.COM

  STEP 1

  Send an email

    To:       [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    Subject:  New User

  In the body of the message, insert this line

    Password: <your-password>

  where <your-password> is a word which you will not forget!

  The response from InternetTrash.com is usually rapid. Please
  read it carefully - it contains the InternetTrash terms of
  service.

  STEP 2

  Reply to the message from InternetTrash.com. Make sure that the
  subject header contains your ticket number. The message body
  should be

    Password: <your-password>

  ... and nothing else. Do not append a signature.

  The response will confirm that you have successfully signed up
  with InternetTrash.com.

  Trouble-Shooting
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  It is very unlikely that you will get any problems during the
  simple sign-up process. However if something goes wrong, check
  that you have not sent your messages in HTML or multi-part
  format. If you did - try again using plain text format. If a
  problem persists, please report it to this list (specifying your
  email program and version).
  ................................................................
  SUBMITTING A PAGE TO INTERNETTRASH.COM
  The next thing to do is submit your first home page file. The
  name of the file must be index.htm or index.html, and it must,
  of course, be in HTML format.
  You should send InternetTrash three further items of information
  about your home page ...
  1. An alias.
     This is optional, but very useful. For example, suppose your
     name is Fred Nurk and your email address is
     [EMAIL PROTECTED] Your default home
     page URL is
     http:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
     which is not what you want.
     By setting an alias, you can simplify your URL, and make it
     independent of your email address. So if you set your alias
     to frednurk, your URL can be
     http://www.netnormal.com/users/frednurk/.
     The alias may contain only alphanumeric characters. Use
     lower-case characters. Some people have reported problems
     with aliases containg upper-case characters.
  2. A category.
     It is essential to choose a category from the InternetTrash
     list. By default, your category is 'people.newusers', but you
     must change it to something else - InternetTrash will delete
     your account if you don't. The full list of categories is
     long, tedious, and of doubtful significance. Sun Zoom Spark
     recommends that you set your category to 'people.normal', and
     leave it at that.
  3. A title.
     Optional -- but you will definitely want to provide one. The
     title is a short text string which describes your web site.
  Alias, category and title may be changed at any time.
  Here are Sun Zoom Spark's current settings:
    alias: websitebyemail
    category: people.normal
    title: Tutorial on creating an Internet presence by email-only methods
  STEP 3
  Send an email
    To:       [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    Subject:  <anything>
  In the body of the message, insert these lines
    password: <your-password>
    alias: <your-alias>
    category: <your-category>
    title: <your-title>
  Your index page must be a MIME attachment to the email message.
  This is the point at which errors are most likely to occur. If
  the attachment is not encoded exactly as InternetTrash expects,
  it will not be recognised -- and you will get back a message
  saying no attachment was found.
  Fortunately, the default MIME encoding of most email programs
  works. The only exception I have come across (so far) is
  Pegasus.
  If you are a Pegasus user, do this ...
  * Click on the Encoding drop-down list.
  * Change the method from 'Mailer Decides' to 'Basic MIME'.
  MS Outlook Express users, do this ...
  * Click the 'Tools' menu.
  * Pick 'Options', then the 'Send' tab.
  * In the 'Mail text settings' section, click the 'Plain text
    settings' button.
  * Set the message format to 'MIME' and the encoding to 'none'.
  The response from InternetTrash is usually rapid. It will tell
  you everything that has happened.
  ................................................................
  SUBMITTING MORE FILES TO INTERNETTRASH.COM
  Your InternetTrash web site exists from the moment you submit
  your first index page.
  You can add further HTML pages and other files (eg: images) in
  exactly the same way.
  If you want to replace an existing file, just submit the new
  version. You don't have to delete the old one first.
  You can send as many attachments as you wish in one email. If
  you run into problems with multiple attachments, try sending one
  MIME type with each email -- for example, all HTML pages
  together, then a separate email for all gif image attachments.
  You will probably find it helpful to keep copies of all emails
  you send and receive from Internettrash.
  ................................................................
  DELETING FILES FROM INTERNETTRASH.COM
  To delete a file from your InternetTrash site, send an mail to
  InternetTrash in the usual way. Include your password, then add
  this line ...
    delete <filename>
  ................................................................
  LINKING TO YOUR INTERNETTRASH WEB SITE
  Fortunately, you do not have to use a 'trash' URL. These
  alternatives are available to you.
      http://members.netnormal.com/<your-alias>
      http://members.netordinary.com/<your-alias>
      http://www.netnormal.com/users/<your-alias>
      http://www.netordinary.com/users/<your-alias>
