Hi all, As a status update, I have been drafting content for the splash screen and docs landing pages we've been asked to provide in conjunction with the May launch. So, I wanted to send the drafts so far, to let you know where we are and give you some indication of where we're going, even though we haven't even settled on an alpha draft yet (yes, I am getting nervous):
1. this is my 'over the weekend' docs landing page draft: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/doc_splash/ 2. this is from late last week trying to split the 'old pkging' docs and 'new pkging' docs: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/learning2/ http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/learning/ 3. this is one week ago draft, trying to put 'new pkging docs' first, followed by 'other new docs': http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/learn_more/ 4. this is Sunday night's draft of potential links on the new splash page which we reviewed with eng and mktg last night: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/website/splash1/ 5. this 'trains' page is interesting to those who've seen it because it begins the development of a table similar to one that we discussed at the October OSDevSummit which describes the various aspects of our release trains in comparison to one another. If nothing else, we should build this out to include all the pertinent features/differences in each release: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/website/splash1/trains/ Overall, the reviews of #1 above are fairly positive. What do you think of it compared to 2 & 3? I'm most concerned about errors and omissions, what is missing? Are there obvious errors or things that seem crazy? Thanks in advance for your time to take a look, much appreciated. In the review of #4 last eve, things didn't go very well (everyone's a critic!) :) It is still not pretty enough and not easy enough for a totally new person coming to the site to enjoy and understand. So, I'm re-thinking, re-drafting, and I'll send out a review request when I've got something more stable. Any and all questions/comments are welcome. Thanks!
