So far, in this "discussion", the focus has been mostly on 
interactive use, but there are other impacts as well.

As an example of a boundary system that will be negatively
affected by this sort of change, the ARC case mirroring 
script (that populates and maintains ~10,000 pages on the
OS.o site) would not be able to work at all in such an
environment.  What alternative mechanisms are you going to
have in place to support that type of long-term automated 
read/write access to the site's content?
