12% is impressive traffic actually. The inequity, however is
in how many resources that part of our activity requires.

As communicated in a previous email, the ARC community section of
opensolaris.org has been disabled for 24 hours starting 9:00am UTC
today and all requests redirected to a holding page.
After the first hour things are looking reasonably hopeful. Although
accesses to the ARC community have only made up 12% of the traffic to
the site, removing them seems to have had a significant effect - the
CPU and memory load on the server is noticeably lower than usual.
However we won't know for sure if the changes have helped until later
on in the day, and we'd like to ask community members to let us know
if they notice any significant changes in the site performance over
the next 23 hours. Please 'reply-to' website-discuss.
Thanks,
