I am getting a bit exhausted with using everything that happens as an example of "Sun being evil".

Evil? No. Not understanding that OpenSolaris.org is not sun.com? Yes. And that leads to such clumsy actions. There are good reasons for that (Sun people set it up and maintain it, exclusively), but still, by its own definition, it's community-oriented, not Sun-oriented. I know that it makes little difference for you, since it's your daily job, but it does for others (that's not a grudge of mine, I really do understand your position).

It's pretty straightforward here. Lot's of Sun people send mail to lists. Moderators would rather do as little work as possible. Since people from Sun are sending legitimate mail 99.9% of the time, many list owners asked that we simply white list the mail to lower their workload.

I did not. And then again, we're talking here about you doing it so the precious time of lazy people could be saved (i'm talking about the posters who couldn't read 5 lines of mailman explanation and send email to subscribe, or even simpler, use Jive). I suppose they were high enough that RTFM couldn't be an answer?

We certainly would do it for all @opensolaris accounts, but at the time we added the original one there were only about 40 accounts, so it's didn't seem necessary. So there you go. There's my sinister plot. Cue mustache twirling.

I never implied there was a plot of any sort.
My meaning was that decisions are taken behind closed doors, not because you or anybody want to hide something, but merely because nobody thought about opening them. Yes, it matters.

As for the 'what does it matter' line? Considering what a pain it is to clean up some of these messes, we try to avoid discussing it in public. I appreciate your expertise in this matter, but it's not your problem, ultimately, is it?

Much less than yours, but I do have to handle requests to ug-fosug-owner and people complaining about spam, too.

We like to white list as many known good senders as we can, but now we'll simply do it outside of mailman and you won't know about it.

What's the point in having moderators at all, then?
