Hi Klaus, :-)

Maybe I was a little hasty in what I posted yesterday. I've had a lot
of negative comment off-list from just a few people about the work
I've been doing to get the libreoffice site to a publishable state
quickly, and very little constructive help. I do believe in teamwork
and community consultation, but I don't have time for endless,
circular, inconclusive and unproductive discussions on mailing lists.
;-)

Maybe as a suggestion, to add a little more transparency, add to the Silverstripe wiki page [1] a list of main core member contributors to the construction of the site? Then the membership will know who may be contributing behind the scene. One of the complaints of the Drupal teams' approach was that the theme was being constructed "in secret" and that membership involvement was not sought (in fact a very small group was developing a Drupal theme to present to the website membership).

I thought our approach to membership did involve community consultation. The fact that there are discussions that may appear circular, inconclusive and unproductive to some should not stop production of our work. Getting direction from the membership should still be the main driving force behind our group effort and distribution.

So sure, the developing of a theme, behind the scene by a select few is OK, but, should the theme not be presented to the appropriate membership before it is put into place? If others wish to work on alternatives, they should also be permitted to do so as per our meritocracy model. They would then present it to the membership as well.

This is in no way a criticism of your work which is much appreciated.

Cheers

Marc
