As the audio quality went from horribly choppy to perfect when Ivan
dropped out of the call at the end (and was good at the beginning of
the call), I think it was really a problem caused by not having muted
the phone and thus triggering an echo-loop that the echo-avoidance
algorithm couldn't cope with/recover from.

It might have been pure coincidence as well of course. Initially I
suspected a problem with my setup (remote CAPI over wlan), and cannot
exclude this as the reason....

Anyway - next time when the sound gets choppy, it is worth a try to
mute everybody for a few seconds to "reset" the echo-filter...

Won't help for availability of skype service however...
