What "leaves out"?

None of the functionality for regular users requires https - thus all
end-users are unaffected.

Only logging in to the CMS, working with the CMS requires https, and
then even if it chooses the wrong certificate, the encryption will
work. The only "problem" those people have is a "nagging" dialog
warning them about the discrepancy between domain-names.
