Bilbo: - Who decided on that name - I like it.

We had servers/disks on a mainframe in the early 80's called

Bilbo - for students
Frodo - for staff
Gandalf - business
Gollum - misc. work for testing

Some people though it was not "business like" for that college to have their disk storage systems named after Lord of the Rings characters, but half of the IT people loved it and they kept saying it would take a lot of time and effort to change things so that they would not be affected by the name changes. That was "bull" but the top managers did not know a thing about mainframe systems and programming.

I miss those days of dealing with that set of DEC PDP-11 equipment. More than half of the places I went to school and work had them, while the others had IBM systems. That was before PC came out.

So
yes - I like the name and maybe I will re-read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books again [been 3+ years]. Have the movies [including animated version of the Hobbit].
