Well the technical requirements should not be a problem. I used the
extension at meta.wikimedia.org (the organization wiki for all Wikis by
the Wikimedia Foundation, including WikiPedia) and at
commons.wikimedia.org (the free image/files archive from Wikipedia).

I like the idea, simply because the complete interface will get
translated to the clicked language, e.g. so clicking on /ar will also
translate the sidebar and so on to Arabic.

I have no clue how good our existing system can be integrated. Most
pages are at the correct position (the translate wiki extension uses
also /languagecode sub-systems), but I believe (I don't know!) all
{{OrigLang}}, {{ManualLang}} and {{Lang}} templates might have to be
removed.

Overall it might be worth to test this extension at a testwiki. (@floeff
I would help to test/install/etc. this intensively!)
