we decided to not obfuscate mail addresses on purpose. The benefit is close to zero - either we obfuscate that much that people can't contact the author directly, or we obfuscate just a bit, which isn't a real barrier for spammers.
My personal take is that obfuscating causes lots of work (someone with C skills needs to patch mlmmj to obfuscate the addresses in its archive, for example), but doesn't bring any big benefit.
